Los Angeles artist MisterAlek was close to finishing his mural of Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in the U.S. history, in the “art pit” of Palm Springs on Thursday afternoon.

The 60-by-14-foot mural depicts 22-year-old Gorman at the inauguration of President Joe Biden on Jan. 20, where she performed her original poem “The Hill We Climb,” calling for unity and healing.

Her reading went viral, and Gorman later appeared the cover of the Feb. 5 edition of Time magazine and read a poem at this year’s Super Bowl.

The artwork, located in the pit owned by owned by Grit Development between the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel, also includes butterflies and the world “Unity” in the background.
